This is my first tear down of a lever so Im on a learning curve. My lever seemed to move okay but I couldnt get it out completely. So I tried some Cafriz and it locked up. Right now I trying to get the sleeve out but that is stuck too. Have tried vinegar for a bit but now I am soaking it in olive oil. Heating things up with a hair dryer to get things moving. Seems that at one point the lever started leaking and instead of replacing the seals the previous owner just tried to stop the leak by putting teflon tape on everything. Ugh. Any advice?

the piston can also slide out from the bottom too if you're having issues pulling it up and out. See if it's more mobile in that direction.

Thanks. I did have it out part way in that direction before the cafiz but wasnt sure if it could go all the way. Ill try again. The cafiz seems to have turned all the residue into gunk and deposited it along the sides of the piston and creating a mess.

No luck its stuck. It seems the cafitz turned everything into gunk and is jammed. Can I put it in boiling water? Nothing is moving at all and Its been soaking in oilve oil for days. Im afraid Ill damage it if I try much more force.

Okay I got it. Used a clamp with wood to slowly work it out. Now to figure out the sleeve. Is their a tool for taking out the sleeve? My needle nose pliers wont do it and I dont want to scratch it.
