Faema Faemina trouble removing pins
Hello I'm new to this and joined up as I'm in the process of trying to change the seals on my Faemina and have bravely begun pulling it apart but I'm having trouble in removing the pin in order to remove the rod assembly. So far I've successfully removed the cylinder and used a small car jack to compress the spring- but I can't remove the pin or roller nuts!! There is no c- clip. I've tried spraying it with WD-40 and hammering it out but it's not budging and I'm afraid of damaging the head. Can anyone please assist/ advise?

Thank you for the photos. I see a hole on the pin collar in the last picture. is there a tiny set screw in there? Is it one of two gripping holes for a pin wrench?

Hmm, that last picture makes it look like that there once was a circlip that's no longer there.
I checked the OE Rebuild Guide, but they didn't cover anything about stubborn pins.

Good catch, Chris. Francesco's rebuild of a version 1.1 shows a circlip on that thick spacer. The pin also looks like it has the groove to hold a circlip.

Thanks for the replies. The hole in the last picture is for the lever which was taken off.
There is no circlip. I'm guessing the pin just gets punched out!?. There was no details on hitting actually remove the pin on any of the sites about removing the piston.

I thought I saw a tiny hole in the pin collar that might house a set screw. It's hard to see in the photo.
You might see a groove for retaining a circlip. It's difficult to recommend a course of action without having a Faemina, and one with that type of pin. In a similar circumstance I might heat the pin and collar with a low-powered torch to loosen caked lubricant or crud before trying to tap it out while using wood to support the surrounding metal without marring it.

did you try to whack out that pin in both directions? I recall that on my friends Faemina the pin would only come out in one direction...
it definitely looks like there has been a circlip, that pin is pretty hard so it can take quite a beating...you may want to use a punch with a hollow tip and a deadblow hammer for the best bang for your buck.

I just uploaded a magnification of the pin collar to my immediately previous post and noticed that there may be a remnant of a retainer clip with a grip on the bottom of the pin. Sometimes clips like that will rust and will leave remnants that cause problems.

Hi Drgary thanks for your message but there doesn't seem to be any clip or screw there. The pin does have ridge near the end.
