Hi Cuprajake.

Just curious. This picture shows the underside of the group head. Do you know what diameter is this? I am curious if this could fit a 54mm basket?

Hi NelisB,

Thanks. I measured the dispersion block at 53.6mm when group head is at 98C. Just so everyone can have a reference if needed.

Another thing to note:
This machine by default if you let the level go up without controlling, the pressure will go to 11bar. To keep a lower pressure, say 9 bar, I had to slow down the motion of the lever while pushed back by the spring. This is all expected, except for the pressure indicator is facing toward me horizontally. I cannot see the pressure gauge without bending my knees while holding onto the handle. This is very ackward position for me. I am 5"11.

CAn you try grinding just a tad coarser? Mine peaks at about 11 but so far I have had no problem with the taste of the shot it produces. Would that behaviour not be typical of a lever with dual springs fitted? I know some folks who like to tinker have either removed a spring or indeed sourced alternates but that is a step too far for me!

macabre

have you got these settings in the pid?
and what offset between group and brew do you have,

ive found the evo to be really good with both springs,

i went to a line fed pressure and got more acidic and sour shots, so back to the pump

How do you folks find the pressure profile these springs produce compared to springs that make out at 9 or 6 if you've tried them? Any particular notes about what the 11bar max profiles produce differently in the cup?

11 bar equals thicker syrupy shots with the right medium to dark blends but can be a bit unforgiving when paired with a larger flat burr grinder..with conical it is a bit easier to work with but won't be as sweet in most instances.

I h ave the Izzo Alex Leva fyi not exactly the same but similar LSM type group I may get an ACS one too later this year.

For lighter roasts I found I had to make shorter ratios and that the long ratio did not taste as good to me. Suddenly I loved ristretto light roasts which I never liked with other machines I had. Up until this point I only really liked longer pour light roasts on my Strietman ES3.

So it is a bit different but ultimately I enjoy it over 9bar and 6.5 and other in between bar machines I have or have used. And I still love those other machines so it's not like LSM group or nothing else
