Made a discovery a few weeks ago. Photoshop Elements is not so elemental. If you use it in Expert Mode it is basically the full photoshop with the ability to do layers, masks, add things like brushes, etc. Also includes Camera RAW. Normally $99 I picked it up for $55 on Prime Day. So something for people to consider if they don't like the subscription model.
