I have not seen anyone discussing this here yet, so I thought I would start a thread. To me this looks like a better concept from the OCD or the Mahlgut tools (or Chinese alternative) as it wouldn't potentially compress the coffee before distributing. Thoughts?

Interesting idea... too bad they don't show any bottomless pours prepared with it.

+1

I like that it also incorporates a dosing funnel.

I don't understand what it does. From the pictures it just looks like a dosing funnel. Is there an explanation and/or video somewhere?

Edit: Saw the video, still unclear on how it's supposed to work.

We'd need several videos and testimonials to find out if it would work, but it seems like they're claiming the little propeller type blade at the bottom spins the coffee around the top portion of the bed of grounds, just enough to level it out.

I think it would work brilliantly, honestly. I just had a couple dosing tools 3d printed for testing and mine are lacking in refinement, but the concept is certainly there. The problem I foresee with a tool like the O.C.D. is that it is partially compressing your grounds before distributing. The Shot Collar would allow you to use it as a funnel and distribute essentially in the same task. Here are the links to the 3d prints I had done. Like I said, I think they need refining, but the concept is there. I would like to see a combination of the funnel and the yin yang tools, and then made of stainless. And have stepless adjustment like the Shot Collar, but instead of a set screw to hold the adjustment, have a lockring like the Mahlgut Dozer and Tamper Buzzer. That would allow adjustment without the need for an allen wrench or other tool.

Oh, and to give a better angle of the tool in action, here is a clip of what appears to be a prototype before the stainless version was released. I like the look of the wood, but could see how it would be hard to incorporate adjustment.

Looks like the depth was adjusted better in the prototype video and produced a more level distribution. I don't see why this tool wouldn't work well, and I particularly like that you can actually see what you're doing compared to the OCD-style design. I would really like to see a video of a shot before dropping $100 on it, but no response from them on Instagram, unfortunately.
