I had set up a delay on make relay on my two group some time ago to play with preinfusion. I had my delay set so the puck was fully saturated with just the tiniest hint of liquid starting inside the basket hole dimples then the pump kicked on. The time needed will vary by machine, dose, and mains pressure. I believe I was running around 2-3 bar mains pressure. I timed my shots at the push of the button so that would include the preinfusion. After all, once water hits that puck, the extraction begins. I believe I would run the shot timing just a hair longer, around 30 seconds but it has been a couple of years.
