I came across this website that makes these unique looking tampers and decided to get one. They take pencils, glue them together and then turn them on a lathe to make the handle. I love how they look. They also offer custom sizes to fit any basket. Here is a video of how they do it and a couple of my photos of my new tamper.

If you search the site you will see the history starting with the first one he ever made. Didn't realize he'd gone commercial with them. They are cool though.
