I had a question about portafilter size. Are the measurements outside radius or inside radius?

I'm looking to pick up a spare so I can run unpressurized filters and I see various sizes on line. Or at the very least modify an OEM one.

The size is determined by the basket that sits in the portafilter. The internal diameter determines the size.

Hey, Joseph, in addition to basket size, the other measurement that may be critical pertains to the portafilter ears, where there can be a lot of variability between machines. I'm not familiar with your 3420, but I see replacement DeLonghi portafilters with two and three ears, so make sure you get the right part# from a reputable source that you can return/exchange if necessary. Encompass seems to have a very large inventory of DeLonghi parts, and there are some DeLonghi portafilters available on Amazon.
