After flipping over my Proscale 600 while trying to turn it on for the umpteenth time I bought one of these:

Dan talked about this one in another thread & I have to say the touchscreen "buttons" are a big improvement over what comes on most of these small scales. Be advised that the calibration weight shown sitting on the scale in the auction photo is not included with the scale. You can however change the 500g calibration setting once in that mode & use a different size(lighter) weight you might have on hand.

I just got that same touch screen scale too and its been fine. The ebay dealer forgot to include the batteries in mine so he refunded me the $1.99 and I put rechargable ones in it. The touch screen replaced a scale that used those coin shaped batteries that ran out after a few weeks. The batteries at $7 a pair were costing more then the scale so my only suggestion is to make sure about the batteries a scale uses before purchase.

These batteries should last a lot longer and cost less than the two CR2032 lithium batteries mine uses. For what it's worth, shop around for batteries. Our local Wolf Camera's regular price is $4/pair.perfectdeal_USA wrote:Scale power by 3 x AAA Battery

Mine didn't come with the batteries either & I hadn't noticed it was supposed to. I'll have to see about that $1.99 refund! Also mentions 3 batteries but the scale only uses 2.GC7 wrote:I just got that same touch screen scale too and its been fine. He was very nice about the refund and I already had the rechargables in the house. I also noticed the mistake with 3 vs. 2 batteries.JohnB. wrote:Mine didn't come with the batteries either & I hadn't noticed it was supposed to. I'll have to see about that $1.99 refund! Those CR 2032 or 2025 coin batteries are expensive even at $4 a pair but mostly they did not last very long.

After only a couple months of use the scale has suffered a complete meltdown so I can't really recommend this one to anybody. It survived the 30 day warranty so its dumpster food now. I think I'll move upmarket for the next one.

I got one of these off Ebay at roughly this price, and like it a lot more than the cheap 500 gram one with the touchscreen buttons. It weighs higher, it doesn't shut off, and brushing against it doesn't switch it to some bizarre smuggler's measurement (do you prefer 32.3 carat doses or 28.9 grain ones?)Randy G. wrote:DIGITAL POCKET SCALE 2LB/1KG

The only drawback is that it takes two AAA batteries which don't last as long as the three AAA batteries in the other unit.
