It'll be interesting if they get to the bottom of this and publish the facts.
On a whim, I bit, and my 1-year "stale coffee" subscription order went through for a grand total of $3.05 shipping! Here's what arrived on Sat. (a handful of loose beans and a rude note), which I found hilarious. NB: I'm not Daniel G.

Craigslist wrote: This is an Original Starbucks machine so it has been seasoned over 3 decades which gives a flavor that a New machine simply cannot match. Just like an Iron skillet. No matter what you do you cannot match the flavor of a properly seasoned skillet or Espresso machine and that is why we bought it.

Reading through reviews on some espresso cups on amazon. Most of the reviews are very positive but there are some with 1 star rating.
Most the complains are "... these cups are very small, probably they are for small children, the seller should have disclosed that...'
One went as far as complaining that he could not put his finger through the hole in the cup handle...

Overkill for a home user. Commercial usage can justify almost anything in a high volume shop if it saves on maintenance and helps with espresso consistency.
