Hmm the article focuses solely on coffee itself and NOT the equipment. Therefore I can be completely smug against her as I pay 7 cents per shot of espresso! I spend so much less than the average person of coffee and in no way or form has any money disappeared and resulted in a heavy device to produce the coffee appeared.

What I thought to be a somewhat extravagant price when I purchased my Bosco just came into sharp focus of what a bargain it was and continues to be. I am sure I have long passed the break even point cost wise and the flavor far exceeds any I have had from local coffee bars. (Not that Iowa is a Mecca of coffee nirvana). Thank you Suze for putting things into proper perspective.

Ah, but here is where your logic is flawed: What happens when you buy MULTIPLE machines and continue to buy more

I have a machine collection that probably outstrips 99% of people's coffee setups, especially for my age, yet here I am looking at Faema Martes, Mercurios, and Gaggia Internazionali and Esportazioni at a miminum of 4,500€...
