Funny... thought I got away from bicycle hobby to coffee... can't get away it seems.
Actually road cycling is how I got into coffee anyways.

Mod note: Split from: Anyone get a Chris King tamper yesterday?

At least your coffee hobby is cheaper than cycling. Cyclists here will agree with me.

Why is cycling so expensive? The new bikes are chonky. I'm overtaking in my Trek 2300 from 2003 and it's aluminum.

I think more correctly, bicycling as a hobby can be more expensive than coffee. But it goes both ways.

Yep. They do have a cult following. Their bike components are supposed to be very serviceable.

Looks like the colorways mimic the hub colorways.

It's all about the wheels! I'll take hed H3s, or some Mavic tubulars on an aluminum frame any day of the week! I think a lot of ppl get caught up in the other components.

Isn't the joke just that new road bikes these days are so pricey only those with a dental practice can afford them?

Sort of. But the dentist joke is that they will buy the most bespoke expensive equipment, and never ride.

My Max2 is cheaper than wheelset I bought for my road bike... and I do have more than one bike of course. At least, I think Coffee stuff depreciates a lot less than bicycle things. maybe it will be n-1 on bike collection and n+1 or n+2 on coffee stuff shortly.

I live in a 'burb just west of Portland and happen to be an avid cyclist - of the recumbent kind! I build my own wheels, so everyone around here who works on their own bikes knows that Chris King hubs are very nice. I guess the coffee stuff is a "hobby" or a side passion?

I mention this, and wonder how many of us have coffee & cycling in common? I'm a casual daily rider & bird watch by recumbent trike.

From a previous bicycle:coffee thread, First: bike ... then: coffee ... (or maybe not)

Snowy winter day in 2018 I was servicing the headsets on both of my road bikes and had to snap this pic. This pretty much sums it up!
