Roasting small coffee beans

I recently got a shipment of some Brazil Cerrado 14/18 beans. I have big problems roasting these without baking them in my Quest M3.
I also have problems hearing first crack. There are some faint pops but that's it. Could any body give me some pointers on roasting small beans like this in general? (The beans should be newest crop 15/16 - packed in grain pro bags)
Cheers!

A little bit about your roast profile would help such as charge, eod, 1c, 2c, and drop times and temps.
