Mine is rated 500 watts, which is more than enough. Remember, with a gas roaster the electricity is only used for the electronic controls (very minimal power), drum motor (25 watts on my machine), and fans (2 @ 45 watts). Not used for heating.jjk232 wrote:For the step up converters for those roasters, what is the wattage needed on the converter?

The decision between these two roasters for me would come down to which dealer is closer to where I live. I think I'd be just as happy with either.

Get the Mill City!!! Put simply: she just works and works. No fuss. Basically zero maintenance.

So what made you buy from Minnesota and pay a few hundred more, then ship to Cali, versus buy from your neighbor in AZ? I found Randy at BC to be just as responsive as the good folks at MCR. Just Curious.

In all honesty I was an early adopter. I don't remember BC being around when I bought.
I was comparing the TJ-067 to probat, San Franciscan, and Diedrich. Actually toured the factory for Diedrich in Idaho. I liked them a lot but ended up with MCR mainly for cost. I can't remember who else I considered now....

I also researched Diedrich and Probat, but chose the BC roaster as I bought the 5lb version as it looked smaller than Mill City's roaster. I really liked the Diedrich roasters, however, I could not justify the price difference, as the 1lb Diedrich would cost twice as much as the 5lb BC roaster.

Yeah, I looked at those too and couldn't justify the cost. We're really fortunate to have so many good options. It pretty much lets everyone get exactly what the want.jerbear00 wrote:In all honesty I was an early adopter. I don't remember BC being around when I bought.

I really think the BC is up at the top for value for the price, but now I'm biased as I just plunked down for one.blondica73 wrote:I also researched Diedrich and Probat, but chose the BC roaster as I bought the 5lb version as it looked smaller than Mill City's roaster. I'm currently working on automating the BC roaster I have, similar to what slickrock did with his North gas roaster. I'll post a my journey once I get it to work.
