Is anyone an ACE member? I'm considering signing up to get the auction samples, was wondering how much green you are sent

I'll look forward to both of your cupping comments.

I treated this coffee (last year's crop) like a high grown central or Colombian taking it generally about 5 degrees below any onset of second crack using relatively fast profile and 2-2:15 or so development. I didn't get the complexity that keeps me interested or the "comfort cup" that makes you linger or go for another mug.

Happy to hear your comments. I've never been dissatisfied with a recommendation or purchase from Dave so this one is a reverse test of my tastes.

Have been drinking the Juan Peña, a brooding, deep, sweet cup with a sparkling finish. Don't think I've ever tasted a better single-lot typica other than from this farm.

Also, roasted up two of the port of mokha lots, one from Al-Jabal and one from Al-Durrar. Incredibly clean, incredible naturals

I was happy with it's intensity of flavor and very nice finish. It definitely shifts flavors over a significant period of time. A slight spice hint, touch of cinnamon, but his top-tier microlot of last year was far ahead. I'm curious who got those this time around.

Burman's has both the natural and washed Mexican Terruño Nayarita, my favorite Mexican origin.

Yes, that's a nice coffee. Last years DP wasn't nearly as "berry-like" as 2 years ago. I hope this current lot has that quality. The Burmans are nice folks, as well.

I liked the ones I roasted, they were good, and I respected them tremendously, but without enough deep affection to consider them, at the price. Then I got to the JSR, which I kind of fell for. Wow! Considering purchasing a bag, even with the 25 lb minimum, but I have not heard back on my Feb inquiries about pricing, so will follow up.

If it's as expensive as I fear, I may look to see if anyone here wants to share.

Update: I confused my notes, it was the JSR I went nuts over.

Update II: Port of Mokha got back to me this morning, and are actually willing to sell down to a minimum of 10 lbs, so I'm grabbing that.

Has anyone tried green coffee from Flag Coffee Sourcers? There's not a lot of background I can find on them. Anybody know something about them? Thanks.
