GUATEMALAN PREMIUM HUEHUE. FINCA VILLAURE COE #5 WINNER

This was actually the top scoring non-geisha, non-Pacamara bean variety.

I ordered a couple of other Guatemalian coffees that looked great as well.
I picked up a couple of pounds along with a Pacamara and others. I look forward to seeing your notes on it.

Will do. I have been missing coffees from Guatemala and I always look forward to a small taste of COE or other non-extravagant special lots.

I haven't figured out how to roast Pacamara's to my liking. I picked up some FINCA VISTA HERMOSA, HueHuetanango and some FRAIJANES PREMIUM FLAT FINCA DE DIOS that seemed particularly nice to hold me till the next crop.

* Slightly off-topic*

Not green, but here's a stellar Guatemalan available from El Injerto. Not a lot is known about their new Yellow Nance varietal, but it might be named after a local fruit in that region. As mentioned in the listing, El Injerto has taken more 1st place COE wins than any other farm, anywhere.

Not going to miss out on this one. Colombia Henry Yate Gesha Microlot. Slim says emphatically it's in the top 3 coffees he's had all year. Probably less than 200 pounds left at this point.

I Just scooped some up. I honestly have yet to feel like the Gesha's I get are worth it, but I'm willing to try again. :-)

I still have some of his Colombia COE #16 and it is a superior coffee. I'm passing on the geisha as tea and grapefruit are not attractive tasting notes to my palate. Call me whatever but I've not had geisha's that wow me, I am looking forward to the Guatemala #5 COE that is wandering around semi-lost in the USPS distribution chain. Looking forward to hearing what this new Colombia offering brings to your tastebuds.

I guess I got lucky, my Guate COE got here two days ago. Surprisingly small screen size and a lot of silver skin.

Both of these coffees would make their own worthwhile discussions. Hope to hear other's impressions of them.

Some nice subtle tea like notes. Very pleasant but not nearly worth the price.

I actually purchased some as well. And yes it has some nice subtle tea notes. Very earl grey in fact, but I would hate to buy this at full roasted price.

In short, I'm in strong agreement. If it weren't for a couple roasted bags from Klatch I'd have completely written this stuff off.
Although the selections I've purchased & roasted have fallen short, the professionally delivered stuff I've received have blown my mind. When a Geisha hits the cup is like nothing else available.
I've heard people say they can hit several terrible shots in a round of golf but it just takes 1 sweet shot to have them dying to come back for more. I imagine this is how I currently feel about Geisha coffee.
