I recently bought a new Hottop B-2K+ to replace the Hottop B-2K that I bought in 2012. The old machine was modded quite a bit, and is showing signs of age. For the last two years, I had some problems with overheating (beans auto-ejecting at ET 428).

Today I did a few roasts on the new Hottop B-2K+, and I was surprised at the difference in the roast curves. The ROR gets much higher in the new Hottop, and the roast is 2-3 minutes faster.

Based on my first roast yesterday, I made an adjustment in Config / Device / Symb ET/BT so the new Hottop thermocouples give similar readings as the old Hottop did. That way I could use the same alarm files for the artisan software, and compare roasts between the two Hottops.

I no longer have any of those March 2018 roasts to do a head-to-head comparison. I have to wait a few days for the coffees to mature before I can taste them.

Hi Rick,

I'm curious what you updated in Artisan to get the 2k+ to look more like the previous Hottop. I'm also curious what your Artisan settings are for things like sampling interval, smoothing, delta span, etc. From what I remember, Marko from Artisan mentioned that the 2k+ probes don't have the best precision.

I hope the coffee turns out great regardless of what the graphs look like!!

I just cranked up the smoothing until the graphs looked similar to me. First image is settings for the old Hottop B-2K, second is the new B-2K+ settings.
