All second batch mods are assembled and shipped. This batch we do have a slightly change in the internal design with another type of connector to connect those motor power supply and sensor.

Here it shows how it is working before packing of one of those machine, an other upgrade include lighting for the power switch.

Hope everyone will enjoy their mod and share their report later on.

Finally, got it! In that shot I used 20 rpm ultra-low speed for my first test, rotate by hand is basically unable to reach such low speed, I saw that the particle distribution was very good and the taste also quite good! Please note that my HG one is the 2014 version, the alignment of the burrs after install the motor mount cause a slight shift and the problem was solved after the adjustment. In addition, some problems occurred during the installation, and have been solved with the help of Daniel, finally it works well! The conclusion of motorized HG one by WUG2 modification was quite good, but there is still room for improvement, I hope that the next batch of design, materials and the craftsmanship will be much better!

Nice setup Kenneth! And thank you for your review and suggestion, I hope the set will keep improving every batch base on feedback and suggestion from users like you, hopefully things will keep improving both externally and internally in the coming batch!

For the alignment issue, not sure if this just happen on early version model, so far I don't receive any issue in 2016 model, and if anyone encounter similar issue, please let me know with your model version.

Have been thinking a method to help aligning burr in case it is initially not well aligned or like what you mentioned, a bit off after installation. Accidentally I discover a way to get it aligned yesterday, but I need to test for several round first before I'm confident to tell you the method is valid. Also, this method is a bit dangerous and may damage the burr set. Will share more once I have done those trial and proven it is safe in early or mid Jan.

Again I'm looking forward to seeing people investigate the effect of speed on particle distribution, extraction, flavor etc......with this mod.

After reading this thread, I am tempted to get a HG One with motorization. Well done Daniel.

Put down my deposit for the next batch of these. As much as I love hand grinding with my HG-1, I'm looking forward to trying out the motor mod!

Will us early adopters be able to retrofit the new changes to ours?

The main difference between 1st and 2nd batch is the type of connectors, therefore as long as yours is function properly, they are both funcationally and looking the same.

As you may have read another thread about another hg-1 motorize design, which is actually what my final goal which require user effortlessly install the mod, it is on my 2019 plan but will be almost completely different from the current design and may not be ready until 3Q of 2019 I believe.

Therefore to answer your question, I will say no as it is not necessary, and the answer will be the same for 5th or 6th batch as they are obviously incompatible.

Can't wait to read about that!

I'm pretty sure that a lot of HG-1 owners would love to have of foolproof method to check their burrs alignment.

There is in fact a very good video from LWW with clear instructions for burr alignment. I've done it myself and couldn't be happier:
