Turning a Rancilio MD50-AT into an ST

After using my Rancilio MD50-AT for a few months, I decided I really didn't like the automatic operation. It was a pain having the motor turn on after the specified number of lever pulls and reaching into the doser chamber to turn the grinder off (or reaching around to the left side of the grinder to turn off the main power).
I compared the two wiring diagrams and did some tracing. You can see some more detailed pictures of the wiring here. It wasn't a terribly exciting project, but somewhat amusing. My question is . . . is there anything useful that could be done with the free switches?
