There is like 4 different burrs from Ditting, two cast and two machined.bakafish wrote:I've heard some complaints that their 807 Lab Sweet cannot grind fine enough for the light roast espresso even at the burrs touch point. My 804 LS never had this problem even the whiteboard pen mark test showed the burrs are not perfectly aligned. I had ever shimmed the burrs and tested with the dial indicator and whiteboard pen mark. The result showed very good, but I almost could not taste the difference, and the espresso range for the same beans was almost the same as well.
Recently I found that the 804 LS for pour over was not that perfect for some very light roasts. It emphasizes the body and sweet, but the floral or fruity aroma is weaker, compared to the Mahlkonig Tanzania (ditting 805) even I changed the pour over method to improve it. It is still very good, just not as good as the Tanzania for the very light roasts, so both of them are my favorite grinders for pour over (one at home and the other at the office).
Some people believe the lower the rpm the better, but I'm not convinced. I prefer the higher rpm and grind in seconds.
Old cast that you find in typically older Ditting using 80mm cast all are now discontinued models and fundamentally replaced by 807 series, I don't believe you can get these burrs anymore.
New cast that is fundamentally a revised version of the old cast these are found in Peak and 807 lab Sweet and the old and now discontinued 804 lab sweet.
And the machined burrs found in 807 and 807 filter that replaced the old 804 grinders.
Then there is a machined none screw hole/ magnetic version found in Tanzania/805, the last time I saw one it looked to be identical in burr design to the machined found in 807 grinders, just without screw holes.

I don't believe many have the old original burrs anymore. Although that said the machined hasn't really changed the cutting design as far as I'm aware off for more then a decade. Some prefer the machined other the cast, of all machined burrs I do believe this one is the best there is for brewed among all machined, well that and the 1203 burrs although the 1403 might be great but never tried it.

I'd really love to buy this grinder. Only thing holding me back is the low RPM on it. I wish it was 1400 at least even if it means a huge size and how about a 64mm burr carrier too while at it? Something tells me that Wug's grinder will be the shining star of 22

I tried searching but came up empty, does anyone here have any experience with the Wug2 grinder? Pre-orders are up for the next batch and I'm very curious about it because it has the ability to swap between conical and flat burrs, depending on your preference.

There are many new burrs options for the 2nd batch including:
71mm SSP conicals
83mm SSP Multipurpose
80mm SSP Multipurpose (sitting / EG1 ?)
And yes... 80mm Ditting Lab Sweet.
If the first reviews are good, forget the look and lowish RPM (translates to more clarity with the Key), this grinder is a swiss knife!
*The yet to come Wug2 83F would have higher RPM but only does flat burrs.

I notice that there are 125 units that have been sold. I haven't seen a single complaint about them? Which is a good thing. I have another grinder coming next month, so I can't get on this round. Hopefully, soonCrossen0 wrote:I tried searching but came up empty, does anyone here have any experience with the Wug2 grinder? It seems like an interesting grinder, but I wonder how hard/time consuming it will be for the average person to swap burr sets in practice? Also, will maintaining alignment be an issue when you swap them frequently?

They have videos on YouTube and it seems like it just takes a couple minutes to unscrew and replace the burr sets.

I watched the video. It seemed straightforward for someone familiar with the grinder who built it. I'm not sure the same would be for newbies to it. I hope so.
