But it sounds like he's saying he cannot choke his machine because he is still getting gushers even when the burrs are chirping.
Best case scenario is it's the burrs, and this problem all goes away with a burr swap. (Just note the post above about third-hand anecdotes of SSP issues on this grinder).
If it's not the burrs, then it's something with the grinder, and his only possible recourse then may be trying to get the manufacturer to service it (at a potentially steep fee because he's not the original owner and presumably has no warranty).

Yeah that's where my brain and hope are going to based on all the stuff I've tried and learned over the weekend. Comparing the burrs to new fresh burrs while not the same it did show me how smooth and dull my burrs are.

Got the new burrs in, cautiously saying the burrs in the grinder are shot. These new ones feel much much more sharp and have a bite to my finger.

Weird that burrs for a fairly recent grinder model would be noticeably worn.
