Option-O Mizen 64mm Omni burrs for Lagom P64 - Page 17
Has anyone attempted to install these without shims? I have a V3 model but after speaking to Option-O they advised against it. Last thing I want to do is cause any damage internally.
Yes, I had only one anaerobic light roast coffee that I needed to grind so fine. Actually I also had a stale decaf that was close to this level but it was very old coffee used for seasoning. And this was before aligning the bottom burr.loscorrales wrote:That's on the lower the limit, really?

I have both Mizen and SSP MP burrs coming in. I look forward to comparing them for (modern) espresso on the P64.
You have to think about the taste profile you want. The Mizen is the best burr I have personally tried for espresso - for what I want from coffee. Well, scratch that "best burr", the burr that, in most cases, gives me the cup I prefer with the least amount of trouble dialing in.
I have tried: Commadante, Niche, K-Max, Mazzer's: Mini, Jolly, and Major, P64 SSP HU, P100 HU, Mahlkonig E65S GbW, Kafatek MC4... I hope I remembered all.
What I like: consistency, the right amount of clarity with the right amount of body that I can still drink, which I consider traditional espresso. I drink medium-dark to medium-light roasted beans. The filter is very good and complements my Timemore 078 nicely.

Interesting. How would you describe filter brews using Mizen compared to P100 HU/K-Max/C40? And in what way does it complement the Timemore 078?kidloco wrote:The filter is very good and complements my Timemore 078 nicely
078 is only two days old, but it gives a cleaner/juicer cup for now. When I had P100, I did not drink pour-over. It is weird comparing something when specific time passes and with different cups. If I had to describe pour-over from Mizen vs. 078, it is like comparing black tea with a bit of nice sugar and milk (Mizen) vs. fruit tea with a drop of lemon on 078
I know it sounds ridiculous. Sometimes I feel like I want that warm sweet coffee hug more than a fresh fruit tea and then I would, and then I would go for Mizen rather than ZP-6 or 078

Has anyone used both the SSP Cast Lab Sweets V2 and the Mizen? I'm curious if there's much of a difference since the geometry looks very similar.
which dial number are you using in P64 for light roast for espresso?kidloco wrote:You have to think about the taste profile you want.
