As an early user of a speed controlled Xeoleo grinder with same size 78mm burrs I'm seeing many similarities here. Wondering if the Sculptor is based or even manufactured in part by Xeoleo or similar company. One would have to wonder why Timemore didn't go with what has become standard burrs utilizing a 64, 80 or 83mm burrs, considering offering from SSP and others. Will these Sculptor specific burrs fit into the larger 78mm Xeoleo?
Between order and chaos there is espresso.
Semper discens.

I think there is a very good chance it's in fact manufactured by the same factory, most of such companies don't really have any manufacturing facilities but just outsource it.redbone wrote:As an early user of a speed controlled Xeoleo grinder with same size 78mm burrs I'm seeing many similarities here. Especially looking at the way it's constructed on the internal and the 78mm, not many others have such a design or uses such an odd burr seize. It is usually following the "Italian design" (58, 64, 74/75 & 83) or "German/Swiss design" (65, 71-73, 80 & 98)
Well they had a successful launch today for sure. I ordered a 064s myself. Figured it's a safe option being cheap and can use other 64 mm burrs. Hard to know at this point if the 078s is significantly better though

Oh I forgot about this topic. Pledged for a 078S yesterday. The prospect to install the "ghost" burrs in the future was appealing at that price point (in Europe the 078 is already sold at 200€ more so it couldn't be on the KS), and early reports say the espresso is "better" than the 064S which has more classical burr, and the filter is great too. I don't plan on changing burrs either (200€ each roughly is not low). I hope to be able to use it as an all purpose grinder
Have you seen pricing for replacement burrs already? Or actually on offer somewhere?bringyoutomyhell wrote:I don't plan on changing burrs either (200€ each roughly is not low).
Can you share where you've seen these reports?bringyoutomyhell wrote: early reports say the espresso is "better" than the 064S which has more classical burr, and the filter is great too.

Oh I was talking about SSP 64mm burrset typical price, no one knows about 78mm price will be
And yeah I was referring to ourcoffeeshelter early reports, but the 78S was also shown at San Francisco coffee festival and some did report filter coffee as good, with body and clarity. But of course it's early to say

Waiting for reviews like everyone else but I firmly believe the 078s is going to be the best filter and espresso grinder out of the box. There will probably be better filter only and or espresso only options but there will be a trade off. Imo if the 078s taste as good or better than the Gen 2 burrs then I will be more than happy at the kickstarter price.
Even if the 078 taste slightly better than the ssp mp /078s, I personally don't have the counter space nor consume enough coffee for two filter only grinders
