So, how are people enjoying the upgraded locking mechanism on their brand new Monoliths?

Works extremely well. Only on day two, but switching between brew and espresso is seamless. I put another arrow sticker on for brew and my wife new uses it instead of the Virtuosa.

Curious about how you use the second sticker? I figured you'd have to rotate the adjustment until the existing sticker is on to another grind setting number to change the grind.

You have to turn the dial 180 degrees to get in the range for drip. There are no markings on the back side, nor should there be. This is way more simple than figuring out rotations on my Kinu (which also is incredibly repeatable when switching grinds).

A few pictures may help.

Normal view when grinding espresso (with my new SSP burrs the nominal grind setting is in the 4-5 range):

Normal view when grinding for vac pot (with my new SSP burrs the nominal grind setting for filter is in the 7-9 range):

Where the black sticker ends up when the grinder is set for espresso:

As you can see, my Flat has the old locking mechanism.

Also the fineness setting is reversed with the new mechanism. Finer is clockwise.

Wonder if Denis will ever provide an upgrade kit for those with the clamp lock.

It's already been asked and given that it requires replacing most of the grinder the answer was no. If you really want it, buy a new one and sell the one you have.
