I see a portafilter.

I'm hoping it will be a less robust, while cost effective home couterpart to the K30.

I am interested to see how it differs from the Pro-M

I'm really aching to remove the bump-n-grind from my routine, along with the thwacking. I think Baratza gets what would actually be revolutionary in the home for us enthusiasts. This has me excited for a possible replacement to the k10 at a reasonable price.

I really wonder what category this will be in since Baratza teased "home enthusiasts," especially since the Forte at its price point was aimed at home and commercial. I'm not sure any of the great companies we discuss here produce large conicals for us home enthusiasts!

That said, I'm excited to see what it is. I love my Vario for its price-performance ratio. Hope this will seem like a good upgrade (with a more appealing counter design!).

I'm starting to wonder if it might be a big flat, not a conical. With commercial grind quality, optimized for single dosing or hopper feeding. But with a counter friendly footprint and low retention.

Probably to the shagrin of the EG-1 folks.

Oh yeah I think it's going to be something with burrs of a pro m or a k30 vario as oppose to a 68 mm conical.

When I was at a local coffee festival back in 2014, a Baratza distributor told me they were working on a new grinder; pretty sure he said that it was going to be a replacement for the Encore/Viruoso/Preciso models. Sounds like they have changed course a little - hopefully a brew friendly burr set will feature in the line-up.

I actually called Baratza today about the sette. I asked what they could tell me about this grinder, as I'm seriously in the market for an upgrade to my Baratza Vario. This is what they shared with me:

1. Conical grinder. Same size burr set as their current conical line (40mm), so not a Titan replacement. :(

2. Rollout (ie widespread availability for purchase) expected for this summer.

3. Price point less than Forte.

4. Seems to be intended for espresso. I didn't ask about suitability for brewed applications, as that's irrelevant to me (my Vario will be relegated to that task alone after the upgrade).

Obviously, they were unwilling to share all the specifics until after the debut in Atlanta at the scaa, but they were gracious enough to share these tidbits.

It may not be the upgrade that I'd so hoped for, but I may hold off a bit for a little further info.

Impressive that they shared that much. I really like Baratza as a company and have long said that "if only they made..." Would be awesome if they came out with something to compete with the Titans as that will be my next upgrade. But now I am intrigued and will stave off my planned upgradeitis until I see this.
