Reinstalling the lower burr carrier on a Mazzer Major - wondering if I have it down far enough before I really go at it with a hammer? Seems like quite the gap between the 3 sweeper's and the bottom floor of the grind chamber (I should have measured this before I took it off).
The retaining pin on the shaft appears to be lined up and inside of those two slots on the lower burr carrier.
I have tightened down the bolt on the top (to see if that would have snugged it up more) but it didn't.
Also this thing was really stuck on, and while I found tips in a few posts here to screw in some long screws to the three holes of the lower burr carrier to get it to come off, I did it this way and it put 3 3mm deep screw pits in the bottom floor of the chamber Guess they will just fill up with grinds but it sucks!

Just looked up the throat of 2 SJs, my old one (with shelf grounds catch) has a bit bigger gap than the new (wear?) but both look smaller than yours, 1mm maybe.
The gap on my major is 2mm or so, more than both SJs
This mod helps with sweeping the area cleaner and will fix the area you damaged
