+1 Frank - That is a fine looking grinder that I would love to have in my kitchen - The grind looks perfect as well.

Enjoy!

How is the ProM priced?
It's 900 euro, which amounts to $1290.

I sure hope $1290 is not the street price of the Pro M in the U.S. This would place it much too close to the street price of the K30 in my opinion. As neat as the Pro M looks I seriously doubt that it is anywhere close to a K30 in quality of construction and function. There would be some other serious considerations at this price point.

To make some pictures, I will have to take the ginder apart. Maybe something for this weekend. I suspect they will be almost the same as the K30 ones.
As Zimas mentioned, the price will be 899 Euro excl tax.

Well, I'm almost sure. The grinder is rated "commercial" in that case the price is normally without VAT.
I will check next week, just to be sure.

Doing a little thought exercise...
Pick a few grinders with a few basic specs and sort by weight (left side), and sort by motor watts (right side). The "prices" I list were at some time in 2009, probably not current.

Sorting by weight (which has a pretty good correlation with burr size), the Pro M doesn't look too good at ~$1300, but sorting by motor watts (mfr's spec) that price doesn't look way out of line. I couldn't find any mfr.'s spec for "quality of grind". :)

Looks like a very interesting grinder, thats for sure.

I know Im interested.

But I also know, it is highly doubtful i would even consider paying over $1000. Im not saying it isn't a good grinder, or even a great grinder.. But, it just doesn't seem "worth" over $1k. Grind quality isn't everything, If I pay $1k for a grinder, I also want it built to withstand way more then I will ever throw at it. $1k for a Major.. i know where my money is going. Huge direct drive motor, massive amount of metal holding the burrs, and speed. For the ProM, at under 15lbs, belt driven, and 1.5grams per second. . .Idk.. Seems pretty similar to the Vario.. But a bit of a step up.

Grind Quality puts the Vario in the $700 area. No way I would have paid $700 for it.

Keep in mind, this is my opinion.. Feel free to tell me Im crazy, wrong, out of line etc, etc. . .

Ed, you have done a lot of research into grinders. This is the first time I have seen grinders presented with all the facts in a spreadsheet. One of the areas that I would like to point out is the price of $1900 that you have listed for the K30. I have seen "street" prices as low as $1475 and generally in the mid $1500's as fairly common. For this I am hopeful that the Pro M comes in the $900 to $1000 price. Over this I believe they will have a problem marketing it. I know that I won't pay more than a grand for it and my gut feeling is that even this is more than it should be.

Hello everyone.

I know that there might be consequence to this but...

Hold on everyone! How can any of you or anybody that has not used it, seen it or read anything on the grinder other that what is currently available (which is pretty much nothing) be already be arguing the price/value of that grinder. I think (my own opinion) that these comments are premature. But feel free to write whatever you want.

I am very curious about that grinder and am looking forward to get more information on it.
