I recently picked up a K30ES Vario Air as a bonus while picking up a Bunn to potentially Zilla, and had a few questions regarding how my routine might change if I wanted to use it.

While looking through a few topics trying to figure out if I could reasonably keep the routine I had with my Kinu m47 for espresso where I just weigh and grind, then don't bother weighing on the way out. Some older topics mentioning single dosing say never to do it with a K30, and more recent ones mentioned some people single dosing them. These topics and posts lead me to the following question:

How does weight on the beans affect grind size, and how can I preserve quality of the beans if I have to leave them in the hopper?

Also, how can I check if it is aligned well/recalibrate it?
