I've finally figured out how to upgrade the software on my K30 to the latest version to include "barista mode". Woot! If any of you K30 owners out there need help with this or want me to flash your boards just let me know.

I just depress the Single & Double Shot buttons simultaneously until the Display reads 'Barista'. Then the timer mode is defeated and it grinds as long as the portafilter is pressed up against the activation button.

You must have a grinder with firmware version 1.06 or newer. For me I had version 1.05 so I didn't have the barista mode option. I upgraded the software version to 1.20.6.

I have v1.08. Would v1.20.6 provide anything new/newer?

I don't know for sure and release notes are not forthcoming. I'll load the few software versions I have and go through the menus to see what is different. It will be a little while but will report back what I can find.

Did the shot counter reset with the update?

Yes. The process of pushing the firmware update erases the microcontroller memory. I am a hack programmer but a real programmer could edit the live memory and enter in the old shot counter if that is needed. My editor allows live editing but I don't currently know where the counter are stored. Something you want me to look into?

No, that's okay. Though I would like to know how to do the flash.

It does require a programmer and some command lines. If that sounds fun I can help. Alternatively I can send you my upgraded board while my grinder is in pieces for finishing work and swap it out with your existing. I'll send a PM.
