I first became aware of this grinder on this thread Mahlgut MoLa-e: 68mm Conical Titan Electric Grinder
Since then, I've been following their progress, and today they have begun to take pre-orders.. http://mahlgut-manufaktur.de/produkt/mahlgut-mola-e/

With Kafatek being in such high demand, is this a viable alternative?

For some reason, I thought it would be less expensive.

I am going to check with them to see if orders from outside the EU will get the 19% German tax deducted from the price shown (which included the tax)

For those of you in the USA. No sales tax will be charged when shipped outside of the EU, so it's minus 19% from the price shown.

DLC coating is 100 euro. Are they 'generally speaking' worth the extra cost? Is the idea like Teflon non stick, or longer burr life? Or both?

The price includes 19%. VAT that you don't have to pay if you live outside the european union.

So pretty cheap taken into consideration that it is built in europe

Yup, agreed :D (as per #6)
All stainless steel. Not aluminium! (SS is harder, and more expensive) sounds like a bargain, if it's as good as I'm imagining it to be. I've only seen a handful of YouTube videos, so still many unknowns. Any German speaker here, who has heard anything about retention on the German forum?

The opening to pour the beans seem really small? Is that the final version?

I didn't realize the price included the VAT so that definitely makes it more attractive. I also like the fact you can run it with a battery.

It definitely appears to be a viable alternative to the Monolith.
