Continuing my legacy of tinkering with grinders, I am rehabbing an old KF804
I am in the process of making a lower profile Ditting that would fit under my cabinets for home use.
Here are a few before and after pics with the new white paint. I will post a complete chronological when I finish chopping headspace off the hopper.

Awesome, keep us posted! Would you mind also showing the internals: motor, grind chamber, PCB, etc.? I personally find that part to be quite interesting.

I will! The internals are pretty milquetoast. A vertical motor with burrs mounted on it. I takes up the entirety of the housing minus a small space at the bottom for resisters and power distribution. I can't fit the hopper under my chop saw, so I will have to drag out the table saw.
I just got a shipment of much needed parts from Nancy @ Ditting, so it is almost ready for the ball.

I like it! If mine was draped it reflective stainless steel, I would show off more of it as well.
I am tinkering with a silicone plug hooked to a hand squeeze pump to "blow out" residual at the end of grinding.
I know the Sweet is pretty baller at retention, hoping to make my old 804 have a great transition between espresso and filter in the same morning.

Why not use a Mr Puff, or similar device?
Simpler, and can be positioned and used with one hand.
Great work on the Ditting.

As a sentient primate, my desire to make something more complicated than an existing product is unexplainable. Other than I can make a custom fit square tapered square plug.

The stainless steel cap looks great. I have a Sweet Lab and have been considering a more discreet hopper solution. This is the best I have seen. How did you make it (and who did it)? Is it possible to order an additional one?chsieh wrote:This is my answer
I made a stainless cap to replace the original one for my 804 lab sweet.
