Hello,
I have a question for P64 owners.
How would you evaluate the reliability of the grinder ?
Any issue with it ?
Mine is supposed to arrive end of March but I received a email saying they have issues on the motor delivered by their vendor...
I will need to use my commandante a bit longer... thanks
David

Hi,

how has your experience been regarding burr alignment?

And which of the available burrs would best fit my use case scenario?

- most of the time medium or slightly dark roasts cappuccino
- sometimes medium roast espresso
- maybe filter in the future

The grinder does not require any alignment by the user.

Sounds like you are solidly in the HU camp :)

What do you think about the Mizen burrs vs HU burrs?

Coincidentally, I was thinking how much of a beast this grinder is. This will last a long time no doubt. Probably ran 20kg through it and it runs smooth as butter. Obviously the real test is 2-3years down the road. I've had mike since Nov 2022.

I've never had any issues. It just works. And if you did have issues with your unit, reach out to Option-O and I'm sure they'd help.

I think the Mizen burrs may be too clear and lacking in body for your use case primarily making cappuccinos. They can also be tricky to dial in. From most accounts, HU are great for medium and dark roast espresso while Mizen are targeted more towards medium and light roast.

You could also go with the traditional burr set (Mazzer like) which would suit your style, maybe even better.

I was personally not a fan of the 64mm HU finding them just average at about everything.
Medium and dark (med-dark in my case) pulled better with Mazzer style burrs while light roast had better clarity with a more unimodal burr set like the MP.
Keep in mind this was with a DF64 at 1400 rpm. It seems the HU may be more appreciated at lower RPM (P64 and Zerno mainly).

One cheap experiment is to get either the HU or Mizen and buy a cheap burr set to compare. The Duranium (also called food friendly or Dura-Mill) are one of my all time favorites and quite inexpensive.

Agreed on the traditional burr set advice, but I don't think Option-O offers them anymore? I think it's either Mizen or SSP burrs.
