@Evanoz83 How's the SSP CAST? For espresso and filter vs max slm.

Not for my tastes in espresso, no. For filter though, SSP Brewing is superior to SLM.Mike0 wrote:Any SSP burrs that can compete with the SLM?

What is this statement based on? Like are there objective facts here? Don't get me wrong; I have a max and a non-max, so I'm not too fussed either way. But my recollection was that Dennis' view is something like there is no way that end users can meaningfully evaluate his manufacturing tolerances and burr parallelism and such. So based on what information can anyone say that his tolerances are better than anyone else's? I never really understood this.GurgenPB wrote:You can't come close to Kafatek as far as manufacturing tolerances are concerned ...
EDIT: Whoops, sorry to necro this thread up!

All of the information is there and well documented as far as Kafatek's grinders are concerned. You can search on Kafatek. If you feel like the P100 is better, or insert your own Chinese made grinder here, you'll find almost no evidence to support that view. Every DF64 that I had was a sh** sandwich, and the P100 was much better but nowhere near acceptable for a $2500 grinder.
And it's all a moot point anyway, you can't get those burr sets anywhere else. So if you don't like those burrs, then by all means put in your chosen ones into a p100 and align them properly if you feel like that all that matters.

I don't do filter, but Shuriken CR (coarse) burr set has a great reputation from what I heard.EvanOz85 wrote:Not for my tastes in espresso, no. For filter though, SSP Brewing is superior to SLM.
It's not about the country it was assembled in, it's about the design and manufacturing quality. In this regard I am far more impressed with my P100 than my MC4.GurgenPB wrote:All of the information is there and well documented as far as Kafatek's grinders are concerned. For what it's worth, he used to regularly post videos on IG testing the tolerances and parallelism. I'm pretty sure they are still up. On the kafatek forum in the Max 2 thread he also posted new videos to go along with the announcement, but they're unlisted on YT so out of respect I won't post them here. Frank from Titus does the same on IG. Don't know of any other manufactures that do unfortunately.
