La Marzocco Pico - Page 7
Mazzer Mini'ish they got Mazzer to make a Mini with a slight bigger body 61mm burrs and pf activation switch. LM don't have a 1:1 like other manufacturers with just a different chassis, there always difference on size, burrs as it's a custom build.Jaroslav wrote:What existing grinder did La Marzocco rebadge/modify?
I bought my Londinium 1 - which was an upgrade from a La Pavoni Europiccola - after tasting some wonderful coffee made from it at the London Coffee Festival. My grinder (a Kafatek Flat) - which is an upgrade from an OE Pharos - I bought due to the enthusiasm it generated when launched here on H-B.StoicDude wrote:
If you don't mind me asking, what do you base your coffee making equipment buying decisions on?
I don't know. I haven't been there. I'm not looking for anything new.Doesn't the LaMarzocco showroom have a large conical that you could test? I would think you could test some of the equipment there, u less it's just a true display, no function, showroom.

I know about Lux D, I've mentioned this earlier. The question was directed at Pico.malling wrote:Mazzer Mini'ish they got Mazzer to make a Mini with a slight bigger body 61mm burrs and pf activation switch. Thanks for the reply and the explanation. Very nice that you got an actual taste from the equipment you bought. I'd say majority doesn't get to do that.mathof wrote:I bought my Londinium 1 - which was an upgrade from a La Pavoni Europiccola - after tasting some wonderful coffee made from it at the London Coffee Festival. I wonder if LaMarzocco will send a test unit to the HB crew by chance? I assume they will not.
My Pico arrived today (very very low serial number). Interestingly, LM never attached a tracking number to my order -- I only knew it shipped because of UPS My Choice.
I'm coming off a 1-and-some year old Niche Zero that I'm rather comfortable on. A few shots in with Blue Bird from Methodical and it's alright, but I didn't come into this expecting to be windblown (see the next paragraph). I'm withholding judgement for a few weeks -- these are brand new burrs that definitely need some time to season, and I need some time to sit with it.
My coffee drinking profile is someone who mostly drinks medium-ish roasts from B&W (local to me) and Methodical. I don't normally pull shots for drinking solo, they're almost always used in cappuccinos. I value body and texture more-so than clarity. Are there other grinders that are cheaper that could do what I wanted? Absolutely. But I wanted something that matched my Micra (aka white), had a hopper (my Micra occasionally goes to the office to pull shots for folks and I'm tired of single dosing on the Niche), quiet, and wouldn't make my wife go "ew no please get that off the kitchen counter".

I'm looking forward to more feedback from you as the Pico starts settling into your workflow. I'm interested in how clean it keeps your area and any possible quirks that may arise in your time with it.

Does the grinder operate same as etzMax or Sette, so the external burr/ring is rotating and the cone burr is fixed?

Just how the Marzocco Lux D is a Mini/Super Jolly rebadged with smaller burrs, made by Mazzer.
And the swift was just a rebadged....?
