It's been mentioned in passing, but I haven't seen a dedicated thread yet for the upcoming "Shuriken" burrs Denis has designed and manufactured himself for the Monolith Flat and Max. They will be standard equipment on future monoliths, and will also be available for purchase separately for those who want to upgrade. There are different versions targeting different roasts, which is definitely interesting.
Forums.kafatek.com recently featured an update that includes pictures. Denis has asked that we not repost the pictures so I won't, go sign up at the kafatek forum if you are curious.
I'm open to the prospect of upgrading but not in any hurry since I'm pretty happy with my mono flat as is. Definitely would like to hear the experience of anyone who has tried them in real life once they are released.

This is interesting, have they been posted somewhere else on social medias so we can look at them?

Yes, I am honoring Denis's request to not repost the details elsewhere, but you can get info straight from the source at https://forums.kafatek.com/
Once people have personal experience I hope they can share it here though, where it will get a wider audience.

So, now that Monoliths with the new burrs are starting to ship, anyone have one? Got preliminary opinions?

I believe they are being shipped. Some happy owners already. But none of them can make a comparison between ssp and Shrunken. And of course the Shrunken are great!

I've had mine for about a week now. My impression so far is that I get a lot more flavor from my espressos, but that's a pretty generic impression from only about a dozen shots that I've tasted myself, two coffees, no direct comparisons with other grinders.Nate42 wrote:So, now that Monoliths with the new burrs are starting to ship, anyone have one? I would eventually love to hear from someone who does a lot of pour over that can compare them to the SSPs. If there is consensus these new burrs are noticeably better for pour over I'd consider them

Can someone finally post some pics now that it is released and shipped so that the discussion is not sterile?

I am generally someone who likes to take things apart and look at them, but honestly, I am not at all inclined to take this grinder apart right now. Honestly, the pictures that denis posted on the kafatek forum mostly look like any other big flat burr to me. Those of you who are impatient for pictures are likely going to be disappointed when you see them; pictures don't grind coffee.
