I've owned monolith flats which are of course oriental motors DC with speed controllers... but not the conical but always thought based on sound and the lack of space for controller he was using AC motor.

So I did a little search and it seems the current model has a capacitor and simplistic wiring...I assumed it was a starter capacitor for the AC. So I am not sure but it could be a basic DC motor sure

Conical has always had an AC motor. Flat/Flat MAX have brushless DC motors and speed controllers.

Suvian, just for accuracy though probably not required, Australia is 230V with - 5% +10% fluctuations allowed. Just wanted you to be aiming at the correct target

Just buy a step down converter from Australia when you land there.

I did email Denis, he did confirm that the conical is an AC motor. And he did confirm that the frequency difference is not an issue.

Does anyone have examples of neat installations of transformers? Or can this be hard wired in?

I'm kind of hesitant to disrupt the "shrine" with large transformer brick.

So I threw my hat in the ring for the Kafatek lottery today hoping to land an MC4 with Aus voltage. It is a good thing that all my details are registered in Shop. At 1pm on the dot I hit refresh, selected 240v and buy with shop in under 10 seconds. Got my confirmation. By the time I returned to the website (under a minute) it was sold out.

I also got a max in the lottery today, but it seemed like they were gone in <50 seconds.
