Thank you for the detailed reasons why you like your Eureka grinder and the way it performs.

I have had a Perfetto for a few weeks now and I currently have a love/hate relationship with it.
Love
Grinds are awesome. I am constantly switching between espresso/pourover/French press depending on my mood and this thing does them all. It's very easy to dial in due to the settings on the grind adjuster so switching between styles of coffee is a breeze. It's also dead silent which is huge when my 3yr old grandson stays at my house. In this respect it is absolutely deserving of the accolades it is receiving.
Hate
I must be doing something wrong because I am absolutely having major issues with static and retention. Grinds will cover the chute when I am done and are often on the display after grinding. When I tap the chute after grinding, a considerable amount of grinds will come out. It's not as big a deal as the static issue but I expected better given the posts here.
Absolutely hate with a passion
This is a grinder that is supposed to be used for multiple types of grinds, so why am I being asked to pay $70(!!!!!) for a plastic bin to contain my coffee for pourover/french press? The bin is absolutely useless. It makes the static issue enormously worse, the bin is covered with coffee due to static and makes an absolute mess of my counter. Do not waste your money on this. I only did it because I wanted to keep things clean...both in looks and actual grind dispersion. Epic fail in both regards.
Caveat
It's currently in the dead of winter here and it *is* extremely dry so maybe I am being overly harsh on the static issue. That doesn't change my perception of the bin though...$70 for a plastic bin that should come with the grinder to begin with is shameful IMHO.

Static and winter with lower ambient air humidity go hand in hand. Easy fix here is using a fine spray of water on beans surface and distribute by mixing prior to grinding. This is recognized as the Ross Droplet Method RDT. Ross Droplet Technique-Eliminating Grinder Static
Between order and chaos there is espresso.

What kind of roast level is on your beans? I find the darker the roast the more prone to static the beans are, post grind.Tennantscoffee wrote:I have had a Perfetto for a few weeks now and I currently have a love/hate relationship with it.

Interesting, I have the specialità and it produces ZERO static, I find it amazing and its one of the reasons I love it. I only use medium light to light roasts and its fu*@ing cold in NYC.

I roast my own and have used all different kinds of beans. I am using the droplet method of eliminating the static but it does still persist, albeit noticeably less. What kind of roast level is on your beans? I find the darker the roast the more prone to static the beans are, post grind.
I got the bin at the same place I got the grinder. I would rather not say where because it really has nothing to do with them. I haven't seen the bin online anywhere for less than I paid. My point in bringing up the issue, besides the huge static issue, is that the bin should come with this grinder. This isn't an espresso grinder, it is specifically designed for different methods. The bin should be included on this particular model.

I asked because darker for me had static. Most of my beans are medium brown or light brown so before the second crack roasting.
The bin looks like maybe static prone as well as its all static, but play with it and let it season by going through 10ish lbs of coffee and see if it changes?
Bin is $20 at clive, $70 at seattle

Ouch...rub it in why dontcha. rofl. My own fault for not looking around but I figured since the prices were the same for the grinder that they would be the same for the bin. When I looked at the time I didn't see anything much cheaper and SCG gave me a $20 gift cert for buying the grinder...so it was essentially $50. Still...not feeling so good about that. I still stand by my assertion that because the grinder is marketed and designed for multiple degrees of grind, that the bin should be included with this specific Eureka grinder.Bin is $20 at clive, $70 at seattle

I agree that the bin could be part of the package, however that would likely be reflected by an increase in cost. So either way you're paying for the bin.
