Does misalignment affect filter grinders with flat burrs?

Hi, kind coffee people.

If my brewing grinder was misaligned, would it affect anything? I read on this forum that it's not required for brewing but I'd like to be sure and hear your thoughts. Please share your experiences. Thanks.

Depends on how bad I suppose. Misalignment can add variation to particle size, and can be a limiting factor in how fine you can grind. If the alignment error is small compared to the spacing between the burrs at your grind setting, which is likely to be the case for brew settings, it doesn't matter much.

Yes.

However, the typical home alignment procedures for flat/ghost burrs is only done at burr touch (near "zero"). Alignment at that setting may not indicate the degree of alignment at working settings for brew.
