You can adjust the height of the burr/motor assembly if you want to eliminate the "step" between the metal exit chute and the plastic piece.

The plastic chute fits over the metal chute on all 4 sides so even if you could move it up or down it wouldn't remove the step.

That's odd, do all K-10's have a step? I don't recall it on mine (although it has been a while since I had a K-10 with the stock chute).

They all have the step down where the metal & plastic chutes come together. This isn't a problem but the older K10s had a step in the plastic portion that slowed the grounds travel. Most of the newer K10s are coming through with smooth plastic chutes although I know someone who recently bought a new K10 & it came with the older style plastic chute.
