Can someone describe the burr marker test?

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

I've often read about people checking flat burr alignment using a permanent marker. I've seen various tidbits, but could someone give me a well guided step-by-step guide on how it's done right?

Thanks

This is from last sundays email from barista hustle. Its about an ek43 alignment but seems applicable to other flat burr grinders as well.

Also Matt North did a quick guide with pictures for a Mythos on the Barista Hustle FB page.

Summary of 9 min video. Dry erase is a food safe/poor man's bluing. Shim low spots with foil. Track spots shimmed. Repeat.
