The little Vario Home has a tiny switch that 'feels' if the hopper is in place. It's a safety measure as one doesn't want to have a strand of long hair caught in the grinder, pulling in one's face.
If I want to get another hopper, it needs to have a similar ring with a notch fitting in the top of the grinder unless I bypass this. Still, if I decide to pass the grinder on to others, I want to be able to undo the bypass and re-install the safety microswitch.
