Called Baratza today to order the upper burr carrier and the metal grind chamber - quoted $50 + shipping. Seems to be trending upwards in price

Currently installing my Forte grind chamber into my Vario. I need to remove the Vario lever arms, but don't see any screws that hold them in place. Anyone know how to separate the two? I have a pic but don't think I can link to imgur. Not sure how to add the image directly.

You should not need to remove the Vario arms...

The motor plate is identical between vario and forte.

Also,

Click images and then "add files" below the text box to upload a photo and then click "place inline" once the upload is complete.

I don't think you have to remove the lever arms. Just the tips. Look for any Baratza factory DIY YouTube videos for servicing the Vario or Vario-W. It's pretty straightforward.

Thanks for the quick replies and sorry for the confusion. I'm currently not performing the alignment, but installing the upper metal burr carrier, and metal grinds chamber. I ended up figuring it out as you just needed to pull on the right lever arm.

Still confused.

You don't need to pull any lever arms unless you are swapping them into a new motor plate.

Ahh I see my mistake now. Baratza sent me the metal grinds chamber attached to a new motor plate. I took the hardest route and moved all the components to the new motor plate instead of just swapping the grinds chamber... :|

What should be the position and tightness of the screw circled below?

Ah...

Gotcha.

Do yourself a favor and do check the alignment with a dry erase marker before you button the grinder back up. If it's good. No problem. If it is terrible, all you have to do is loosen the four screws that hold the grind chamber onto the motor plate and tighten them again to fix it...

That's the coarse calibration screw. Is it loose now? If you haven't loosened it, there's a good chance it's fine. If you have loosened it, you need to add the burr carriers and burrs to properly adjust it.
