Baratza Sette 30 Stepless Hack?
Hi all. I'm using a Sette 30 to grind for my Profitec Pro 300 and getting great shots when everything is in sync. Problem is, I'm not getting those great shots when I use a different bean or when my beans age and the optimal setting falls between steps. Short of springing for the 270 micro ring (or selling off the Sette for a stepless grinder) is there a hack that will let me set the 30 between steps? Thanks.

Slight bumps in dose were an approach from the stepped-grinder days. Up or down depends on your preference, assuming you're not out of headspace. Size is a guess and will probably vary by coffee.
Go for the official 90 dollar hack. It'll be much cheaper than any grinder upgrade, and there's a good chance that you'll miss the Sette's grind quality if you don't spend a lot more.
I have the same setup and experienced the same frustration. I ended up buying a 270 ring. I tried the dosing method Jeff mentioned but wasted quite a bit of coffee dialing in the correct dose which would then change as the beans aged.Elagins wrote:Hi all. I've been tempted to file down the teeth a bit on the 30 step ring but haven't figured out a good way to keep the adjuster from drifting during a grind.
Curious if your running any shims yet? I installed one and it made a huge difference.
No shims yet. Got the grinder in March and burrs are just settling in after about 18# of beans. Currently grinding a medium roadt Nicaraguan at 5-6. I expect I'll be installing shims in the next couple of months. Gonna play with dose +/- 0.5g for a week or two and see where it goes.
Thanks for all yo u r help.
