If your Hausgrind has either the original burrs or the uncoated version of the current burrs, it will probably grind faster than the Aergrind. The current Hausgrind, Feldgrind, and Aergrind should all grind at roughly the same speed with the same coated Italmill burrs.

Thanks Josh! Seems like a great community here.

That's exactly why I asked! I saw the post on the MBK website and I was wondering whether the Feldgrind was worth getting before it got phased out. It's at a discount but if the Aergrind can do everything it can and be even smaller and cheaper, why bother with getting the Feldgrind at all! Plus it has a small discount right now for pre-ordering!

A little espresso experience with the Aer: this morning's cappa poured a little fast as the beans are aging. It was good - decent bottomless pour with no channeling, but the taste was a little weak. I dialed back tonight's after-dinner 'spro 1-2 notches tighter and pulled a really great ristretto. Perfect flow rate and right down the center with that "syrupy-fill-the-cup-crema" sound. The shot was pure N. Italian espresso bliss. So even right out of the box this is an espresso-capable grinder for someone on a budget, wanting to travel, or just wanting to give hand grinding a go.

Not that it would be a bad idea to grab a feld whle they were on sale.... :)

Peacecup, why would there be a need to grab the Feld if the Aer is smaller and produces the same grind quality? Feld is more expensive too at this point.

I don't know - larger hopper? Longer crank arm? Immediate satisfaction? Destined to become a classic?

I have not used a feld, but the larger hausgrind is more comfortable compared to the Aergrind. That said, they are both fun to use, and I could probably be happy with just an Aergrind. But my wants are very simple..

About confort, those with large hands think triple before going AerGrind !
Already having first hand, pun intended :) experience with another small enough for Aerpress grinder, Zass Panama, you simply can't catch firm enough before the fingers touch the back of the palm (carpal), and you can't grip.

Thanks for the beta write up. I'm looking forward to getting my Kickstarter 2 pack here hopefully by next month.

How can this grinder have public launch early October, when the KS guys didn't get yet their toys... :?

Why is this such a controversial issue? There was someone lambasting Peter on Instagram about it for days. He made it very clear the Kickstarter backers come first both on Instagram and in the project update.

By the time you read this some of you will know through Instagram and our Website that we are now taking pre-orders for Aergrinds for despatch in October. These will be released only once equivalent Kickstarter pledges are fulfilled so will not impact on your delivery. Your orders come first.
