Asso Jack Leveler adjusts itself while turning

Just got the Asso Jack Leveler and I noticed it adjusts its height/depth while leveling/turning. Has anyone experienced this? Is it due to it being too protruded, to begin with, and is adjusting itself to the ideal level to meet the puck? Wondering if this is normal behavior or if mine is a dud.

On mine it only does that when there is significant resistance, like if you have filled your portafilter with too much coffee. I generally use between 20 and 21g with a 58mm portafilter and its set to either the 2nd to last or last click.

Mine will, on occasion, shift. Never more that on or two clicks. Mine is set to the 7th line.
