I'll put in a plug for Vintage Coffee Cafe in Mt Pleasant. We had a magical breakfast there on a chilly Sunday morning last November. Fine milk drinks and wonderful food around a outdoor wood fire. Couldn't have been tastyer or more charming.
Trust your taste. Don't trust your perception.

I think Second State is the best, Kudu is nice because they also have a good local craft beer selection.

Thanks again for the recommendations. Vintage coffee was a little underwhelming - nice food, but the espresso was rather over extracted.

Second state was excellent, consistently great espresso, and even their batch brew was pretty good. Interestingly, they were pulling single origin espresso for everything, including milk drinks: this one.
