I was interested in a self leveling tamper lately.
Bought a Normcore V4 but was sorely disappointed in the build quality and didn't want to spend alot on something I was not sure would improve my shot quality much.
Went digging through some scraps and this is what I came up with.
Had to buy the spring and bronze bearing, total $3.75 and a couple of hours on a lathe.
Works very good with a great feel and feedback. I was going to cover the spring but like the exposed spring/industrial look.

Strong work! That's about what the best of them do. I think you nailed it.

Thank you!
It was a fun project.
I have been using it only a few days and am enjoying the fruits of my labor. Things do seem better but I'm not sure if it is the tamper or the placebo effect of something new.
