La Marzocco GS3 steam boiler check valve reinstallation

I'm replacing the check valve running from the steam boiler on my GS3. I made the mistake of not noting the orientation of the valve when I disassembled it. I believe the end with the clip faces away from the boiler, facing towards the front of the machine. If someone could confirm or correct this, it would be a great help.

Normally, the spring end is toward the pump
