Maybe. But to be clear, the pipe didn't go through before I heated the plate. Because the plate has shrunk, it's now fixed.

OK. Hopefully the hole won't expand when the boiler heats up...but I think you'll be OK because there IS solder in that joint, and that is what seals it. Show us a picture of your machine when it's all fixed up!
