It's great that they're plastic as I am certain the majority of the original trays were pressed into service as ash trays. Every time I manage to talk my way into a smoker's house in Italy I'm looking...

A while back I had two sets of 3D printed tray\grill for the VAM\Caravel. One set in black and one in white.
Not keen on the white set I decided to spray paint it with a hammered paint effect.
I prefer the look over the white. The paint adheres nicely to the plastic. Still drying.

Used this paint prior on a La Pav Euro base but in did not do well with heat.
The VAM\Caravel don't get as hot on the base. Also helps that these are removable and not part of the body.
Between order and chaos there is espresso.
Semper discens.

That's both interesting and funny. It explains why many of these posted for sale are sans tray. Ashtrays :(
